Practitioner certificate

At this level candidates will achieve sufficient understanding of how to apply and tailor PRINCE2 in a scenario situation. They will understand the relationships between the roles, management products, principles, themes, techniques and processes and apply them to a project.

Who is this aimed at?

Project managers and aspiring project managers. It is also relevant to other key staff involved in the design, development and delivery of projects.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates must hold one of the following certifications:

  • PRINCE2 Foundation
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)1
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)1
  • IPMA Level A® (Certified Projects Director)2
  • IPMA Level B® (Certified Senior Project Manager)2
  • IPMA Level C® (Certified Project Manager)2
  • IPMA Level D® (Certified Project Management Associate)2

What format is the exam?

  • Two and a half hours ‘open book’ (official PRINCE2 manual only)
  • Objective testing
  • 68 questions - 1 mark per question
  • Pass mark is 55% (38/68)

How do I re-register my practitioner status?

All PRINCE2 practitioners should be re-registered within 3-5 calendar years of their original certification.* Re-registration comprises a one hour exam, set at the same standard as the Practitioner examination:

* This is a requirement for candidates who have taken the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification since October 2000. Practitioners certified prior to October 2000 (January 2010 for Australian Practitioners) have the opportunity to take the re-registration exam to demonstrate their commitment to professional development.
