Managing Successful Programmes (MSP)

Practitioner certificate

This certificate will demonstrate candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the MSP guidance and confirm their ability to apply it within a programme environment. Specifically they will be able to explain and apply the MSP principles, governance themes and transformational flow processes.

Who is this aimed at?

Project managers, BCMs, experts and advisers working within a programme office and other specialist / governance roles. This level is also suitable for SROs.

What are the entry requirements?

A minimum pass rate of 50% at Foundation level (on or after 1 March 2008) - candidates prior to this date are exempt from this rule.

What format is the exam?

  • Two and a half hours ‘open book’ (official book only)
  • Eight questions per paper
  • Pass mark is 50% (40/80)

How do I re-register my practitioner status?

All MSP practitioners should be re-registered within 3-5 calendar years of their original certification.* Re-registration comprises a 75 minute exam, set at the same standard as the Practitioner examination:

* This is a requirement for candidates who have taken the MSP Practitioner certification since January 2008. Practitioners certified prior to October 2008 have the opportunity to take the re-registration exam to demonstrate their commitment to professional development. Re-registration is only required for the highest level of qualification achieved.
