GDPR Update: Data Protection

Foundation Certificate

This add-on certificate provides an update to incorporate understanding of UK data protection law. This includes how it is applied in practice and its importance for any organisation that holds personal information to ensure compliance with the EU General Data Protection Rules (GDPR) which are fully incorporated into the UK Data Protection Bill.

Who is this aimed at?

Anyone who needs to understand data protection and who has already passed the BCS Foundation Certificate in Data Protection, and that wishes to update their understanding of GDPR with the enactment of the UK Data Protection Bill.

What are the entry requirements?

Candidates must hold the BCS Foundation Certificate in Data Protection (with a pass prior to 1 December 2017).

What format is the exam?

  • 30 minute ‘closed book’
  • 25 multiple choice questions
  • Pass mark is 64% (16/25)

Where can I take the exam?

Option 1: With an accredited training provider

Option 2: Online exam (at a test centre: Pearson Vue)
This option is available from February 2018

Price: £50 (excluding VAT)

You can progress to the BCS Practitioner level certifications. If you work or are considering working in a cyber security / information assurance role, there is the CCP Scheme.

This professional certification is not regulated by the following United Kingdom Regulators - Ofqual, Qualification in Wales, CCEA or SQA.
